This project explores the role of constraints in design by creating a card-based system that generates random effects and rules for each design. I developed a deck of cards with categories like text adjustments, effects, and designer instincts to introduce an element of surprise and reduce predictability. Through iterative testing, I observed how varying the number of cards impacted the complexity of the designs. The final outcome is a book that tracks the evolution of the card system, serving as both a creative tool and a method for overcoming design blocks.

Instructions of Experiment

1. You have to at least draw one card from every deck, if using more than 3 cards.

2. You may use the constraint in every card several times in one design.

3. Use a random number generator (if the effects require numbers) or you may use your instinct to input numbers.

4. If you get two text alignment card you may switch it with the first card on the deck, you may not choose.
